Monday Day 8

Rather than doing the trip down the motorway back to the hospital I am going to our local doctor’s for a wound check and new bandage.  Nurse Rachel ( well known to us as she has sorted out various of our families dings and wounds) removes my now shredded old bandage. I have a black bruise on the top of my foot and the wound site looks decidedly purple but she pronounces it healthy. It looks like there are about three stitches (very neatly done) but the actually wound looks slightly bigger than I expected. The bruising seems to co-ordinate with my pain. I now have a less bulky bandage and it is a relief to get rid of the old bundle of bandages.

However that night I cannot sleep because of the pain which seems to be on the top of my foot going down to my toes. I like to think that this is a good healing pain but feel a bit worried.
